Border Collie Dog Picture

Although there is a great variation in appearance among Border Collie species, it would be useful for prospective dog owners to study a good Border Collie Dog Picture site. It is not the dog’s conformation qualities that all responsible Border Collie breeders are after, but its performance level. The breed standard readily admits a number of physical traits that are usually viewed as faults in other breeds of dogs. For example, it is not uncommon for a blue-eyed Border Collie to get the better of a brown-eyed species in agility.

Border Collies have always been valuable for their enviable stamina, high endurance and exceptional working qualities. Their people-oriented temperament and stunning ability to foresee the movements of livestock and drive it in the right direction has made them the most versatile sheep dog in the whole world. As these dogs are bred for intelligence and performance, breeding them is very challenging. For this reason, a Border Collie Dog Picture alone cannot give you a complete idea of the dog, so it takes a little bit or research to fully understand it. There are only a few breed associations that produce high quality Border Collies: the American Border Collie Association, the Canadian Border Collie Association and the International Sheep Dog Society (Great Britain).

Border Collies vary in size, their wither height ranging from 25 to 55 inches. There are smooth-coated and rough-coated Border Collies. Colors are diverse too, black-and-tan and white-and-black being the most common. Ears are usually erectile, and the muzzle is pointed and elongated. The eyes are very confident, and the body built is firm and sturdy. A good Border Collie Dog Picture usually gives a profound sensation of determination, integrity and devotion. Border Collies do okay in the countryside and are not suited for apartment life. As they are extremely energetic and laborious, boredom can make them rambunctious and destructive.

As long as these dogs were bred toward good performance, without much emphasis on the uniform appearance, they have a very miscellaneous genetic pool. Today, it is hard to tell exactly, how many breeds have been involved in Border Collie breeding. Most probably, the breed descended from some old droving dog, and has been influenced by some Spaniel lines. Border Collies originated on the Scottish/English border, in Northumberland. Most authentic Border Collie information resources feature extensive Border Collie Dog Picture galleries and comprehensive articles on the breed’s history and its present status.
